Observations of OI 557.7 nm nightglow at Kolhapur (17 N), India

چکیده
Ground-based nightglow observations of the atomic oxygen green line at 557.7 nm have been carried out at a low latitude station Kolhapur (17 N), India, during November 2003–April 2004 and December 2004–May 2005. The nocturnal behaviour of OI 557.7 nm intensity and a comparative study with simultaneous OH Meinel band temperature measurements has been presented. OI 557.7 nm intensity and OH temperature variations covary on many occasions. It was found that an 8 h tide characterizes the variation of intensity and temperature on most nights, and especially during the month of January. This is the first report of prolonged measurements of OI 557.7 nm emission from India.

All-sky Measurements of Short Period Waves Imaged in the OI (557.7 nm), Na(589.2 nm) and Near Infrared OH and O2(0,1) Nightglow Emissions During the ALOHA-93 Campaign
As part of the ALOHA-93 campaign a high performance all-sky CCD imaging system was operated at Haleakala Crater, Maui, to obtain novel information on the properties and sources of short period gravity waves over an extended height range -80-100 kin. Sequential observations of the near infrared OH and O2(0,1) bands and the visible wavelength OI(557.7 nm) and Na(589.2 nm) line emissions have enab...
متن کاملA Two-dimensional Spectral Analysis of Short Period Gravity Waves Imaged in the OI (557.7 nm) and Near Infrared OH Nightglow Emissions Over Arecibo, Puerto Rico
In January 1993 an extensive set of radar and optical data was gathered from various key sites around the world during a coordinated "10 Day Run" designed to investigate the coupled dynamic behavior of the upper atmosphere on a large, reediron and small scale. As part of this campaign an all-sky CCD imaging system was operated at Arecibo Observatory, Puerto Rico, to help quantify the response o...

A digital CCD all-sky spectrograph was made by the Polar Geophysical Institute (PGI) to support IPY activity in auroral research. The device was tested at the Barentsburg observatory of PGI during the winter season of 2005– 2006. The spectrograph is based on a cooled CCD and a transmission grating. The main features of this spectrograph are: a wide field of view (∼180), a wide spectral range (3...

We report simultaneous observations of atmospheric gravity waves (AGW) in OI (557.7 nm) and OH airglow images and VHF radar backscatter from field-aligned irregularities (FAI) in the E-region during the SEEK-2 (Sporadic-E Experiment over Kyushu 2) campaign period from 29 July to 9 August 2002. An all-sky imager was operated at Nishino-Omote (30.5 N, 130.1 E), Japan. On 14 nights, 17 AGW events ...
